Welcome to Norwood 

Over the last fifty years, this town has become one of Bergen County's more affluent bedroom communities. Norwood today responds to all the needs of the residents. It is a rural community, consisting of 2.75 square miles. Its location, ten miles northwest of the George Washington Bridge, gives commuters a convenient route to New York City. The tight-knit community is what attracts many residents to the borough. It is just a lovely place to live, with all of the attributes of a small town, and people extending a helping hand to each other. The borough is mostly residential, with shops and other commercial buildings situated on Livingston Avenue. Split-level homes and a mix of contemporary and Victorian styles dominate the architecture. Expensive colonial and contemporary style homes are available in the recently built Park Place and Rio Vista developments.

Schools: Children attend the Norwood Public School from kindergarten through eighth grade. After eighth grade, students for to Northern Valley Regional High School at old Tappan. The local Parochial School is Holy Family Inter Parochial and a local private school is Inge Lake Nursery School.
Parks and Recreation: Activities include Norwood Little League, football, soccer, girls softball, and basketball. Facilities include 2 local parks, 3 athletic fields, Norwood Swim Club,  ice skating, and summer programs for children.
Houses of Worship: Norwood Presbyterian Church, Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
Town Groups: Senior Citizens Club, Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Optimistic Club, Democratic Club, Women's Club, Girl Scouts & Brownies, American Legion & Auxiliary, Independent Republican Club, Volunteer Fire Dept. and Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts.
Transportation:  NJ Transit, Red & Tan, Rockland Coaches provide daily bus service to New York City. Travel time to Manhattan averages one hour. There is no train service from Norwood.

PARKS & RECREATION

The Borough of  Norwood Recreation Committee meets the first Monday of each month at 8:00 P.M. at Norwood Borough Hall, 455 Broadway in the All Purpose Room. The sports activities and programs sponsored by the Recreation Committee are:

Norwood’s Summer Recreation Program is offered to Norwood Residents only. It operates Monday through Friday (rain or shine) from 9:00 A.M. to 12 Noon during the month of July for children entering first grade through sixth grade in September. Watch for flyers regarding exact days and cost per child which will include registration fees.
