Bergen County is home to nearly a dozen seasonal farmers’ markets.  Teaneck’s Farmers’ Market runs from the beginning of June through the end of October, and features farm fresh fruits and vegetables, locally grown herbs, artisan cheeses, gourmet nuts, freshly squeezed lemonade, olives, pickles, marinated peppers, honey, and a variety of fresh baked goods and frozen entrees. The market is located behind the Wells Fargo Bank on Beverly Road from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays.

The Oakland Farmers’ Market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June 1 to the end of October. Located in the Municipal Parking Lot next to the library, the market features locally grown produce, kids’ activities, live music, fresh baked goods, grass-fed meats, juices, gourmet marinades and sauces, soups, handmade soaps, crafts, and work from local artists. Dogs are not allowed. Additional farmers’ markets are held throughout the county every day of the week from June through October.

The Englewood Farmers’ Market is open Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Depot Square Park at the intersection of North Van Brunt St. and Demarest Ave. The Hasbrouck Heights Farmers’ Market takes place on Tuesdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the corner of Central Avenue and The Boulevard. On Wednesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., vendors sell eggs, fresh produce, locally raised meats, goat cheeses, Greek items, fresh-made guacamole, Russian entrees, pickles, honey, and more at the Paramus Farmers’ Market.

The River Vale Farmers’ Market is held on Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., June 20th through late October. The market is located on the Town Hall complex next to the tennis courts, and features a variety of international cuisine, free-range eggs, hormone-free meats, organic coffees, gluten-free foods, fresh spices, frozen Maryland crab cakes, hand-made soaps, and more. The Fort Lee Farmers’ Market operates on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from the end of June to Thanksgiving. The market is located in the plaza area of the Jack Alter Fort Lee Community Center. Ridgewood’s Farmers’ Market is also held on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Garber Square. The Rutherford Farmers’ Market takes place twice a week: on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both markets are held at Williams Plaza between Spring Dell and Glen Road.

While most of Bergen County’s farmers’ markets run from early summer to mid-fall, the Ramsey Winter Farmers’ Market runs from December through March. Open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the winter market is a great place to pick up locally produced winter treats, including seasonal produce, baked goods, and yak and llama wear. Ramsey also runs an outdoor farmers’ market at the train station from late June through Thanksgiving. For more information about the outdoor market, click here.

WIC and Senior FMNP vouchers are accepted at most of the county’s markets. For additional information, visit the State of New Jersey’s Department of Agriculture.
