Tenafly, New Jersey boasts some of the most popular real estate in the region, and its award-winning school system plays a big part in Tenafly’s attractiveness. Regularly recognized as one of the best overall school systems in the state, Tenafly High School in 2012 was named the #3 public high school in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly and was ranked as the #168 high school in the United States by Newsweek/The Daily Beast.

With average class sizes of 17.7, an average student/faculty ratio of 11.2, and superior student test performance, Tenafly High School has received numerous awards over the years from both local and national sources. In 2010, and 2008, New Jersey Monthly magazine also previously rated Tenafly High School the #3 high school in New Jersey. In 2007, Newsweek ranked it #2 in the Garden State. In 2005, the school received the Blue Ribbon School Award from the Department of Education. It was one of only 38 public schools in the nation to receive the award that year.

The accolades are well deserved. In addition to its low student/teacher ratio, small class sizes, and high test scores, Tenafly annually graduates 97.4% of its students, and nearly 90% of its faculty members hold either masters or doctorate degrees.

THS also offers its students a wide variety of opportunities to excel. There’s the award-winning debate team, the state championship tennis teams, and a highly successful theater program that turned out one of the stars of the popular television show Glee. Tenafly High School also fields highly competitive hockey, soccer, softball, volleyball, and football squads.

The Tenafly school district also operates four elementary schools and one middle school. The schools are all recognized as superior schools with award-winning academic, extracurricular, and sports programs, including the number one middle school orchestra in the country.
