It’s that time of the year again: Summer! And that means barbeques, picnics, swimming, vacations, and – of course – Fourth of July celebrations!

Most of us fondly remember the Fourth of Julys of our past. Memories of sparklers, fireworks stands, family get-togethers, and breath-taking fireworks displays are shared and passed down through the generations. In cities across the country, local Independence Day festivals and fireworks displays link neighbors and residents together, in a shared celebration of our nation’s rich history and national pride. Tenefly, New Jersey is no different.

Each year, Tenefly’s residents eagerly await the city’s Independence Day Celebration, which features live music, fun, food, and awe-inspiring fireworks displays sponsored by local groups and businesses.

This year, Tenefly’s Fourth-of-July city celebration will take place over the course of two days: On Wednesday the 3rd, residents can watch the mesmerizing aerial fireworks display starting at 9 p.m. behind the Tenafly High School. Continuous fireworks in a variety of shapes will light up the sky in green, blue, yellow, gold, red, and purple to the crowd’s chorus of “oohs!” and “aahs!” Live entertainment by the Crescent City Ramblers, a Dixieland band, will precede the event, starting at 8 p.m. If it happens to rain, the celebration will be rescheduled for Saturday, July 6th.

On Thursday the 4th, residents can attend the day-long Town Wide Independence Day Celebration. Starting at 10 a.m. and running until 3 p.m., the festival will feature amusement rides, carnival games, live music, tasty treats, delicious food, and fun for residents of all ages. Local businesses involved in the event include Café Angelique, Build Your Own Yogurt, and the Tenafly Diner. The event is scheduled to take place at the Roosevelt Common. If it rains, the festival will be rescheduled for Saturday, July 6th.
