Englewood is a city that features a diverse style of homes, which include stately mansions on the East Hill, Colonials, Cape Cod starter homes and a luxury townhouse complex near Route 80. Englewood is primarily a residential community, although a large industrial area occupies the southern end of town. A large retail district runs through the center of town and features upscale specialty shops.
Englewood's population is far more diverse than that of most suburbs, including many of its Bergen County neighbors. Occupations range from highly paid professionals to unskilled trades. Due to the proximity of New York hospital and the ever-expanding Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, doctors abound. There are also many lawyers, business professionals, engineers and academics, as well as a number of artists, musicians, entertainment and sports figures. The city boasts the 1,400-seat Bergen Performing Arts Center which presents a broad range of celebrity performers, music, theater, dance, comedy, holiday shows and children's entertainment.
Rich in history, the town has been home to many famous people including Charles Lindbergh, the writer Upton Sinclair, the legendary coach Vince Lombardi and more recently, John Travolta and Eddie Murphy.
Buses run to New York City via George Washington Bridge and to Port Authority in midtown Manhattan from 5AM to 12:30AM
Although it is designated a city, Englewood has a one hundred and fifty acre Nature Center which is open to the public year-round. |

The Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenpac) offers world class entertainment just around the corner.The Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) was conceived in the echoing corridors, empty rehearsal rooms and grand performance hall of the former John Harms Center, which closed to the shock and heartbreak of Bergen County's large community of culture lovers, families and students. In April 2003, a group of concerned citizens, headed by Englewood resident Frank Huttle III, formed bergenPAC and developed a business plan to forge a true public/private partnership, engaging all sectors of the community and bringing together corporations, governments and residents, each adding the commitment and support necessary to revitalize this unique arts center.

Flat Rock Brook Nature Center is a 150-acre preserve and environmental education center situated on the western slope of the Palisades in Englewood, New Jersey... this natural woodland is one of the last remnants of the magnificent Palisades Forest. The preserve is managed by the Flat Rock Brook Nature Association, a non-profit membership supported organization committed to land conservation and environmental education.
The Woman's Club of Englewood, founded in 1895, has been serving the Englewood community for over 105 years. Volunteers of the non-profit, non-partisan and non-sectarian organization work to serve and contribute to needs on the local, state and national level.
