"We are not New York, but we have got that undeniable cosmopolitan feel." Fort Lee, New Jersey, just five minutes from New York City is the site of the beautiful George Washington Bridge. It is home to thousands of people who work in Manhattan and commute daily across the bridge. The borough is known for dozens of high rise condominiums and cooperative apartments, but there is also a large range of choices, from garden apartments to luxury dwellings, many offering stunning views of the Manhattan, the Hudson River and the George Washington Bridge. Fort Lee's ethnic and cultural heritage have been greatly diversified and arrivals from all nations are settling in the borough.
Fort Lee is located in Bergen County in North New Jersey near the George Washington Bridge. The 2.5 square mile borough is bordered on the north by Englewood Cliffs, on the south by Cliffside Park, on the west by Englewood and Palisades Park and on the east by the Hudson River with its panoramic views of New York City. Fort Lee is a beautiful town with a vast history and amazing view of NYC. Located atop the Hudson Palisades the Borough of Fort Lee sits at a population of approximately 35,500 residents. It’s early settlers were that of an American Revolution military encampment. George Washington stood on this rocky bluff and watched the attack and surrender of his garrison at Fort Washington, across the river. The George Washington Bridge, linking Fort Lee and upper Manhattan, opened to traffic in 1931.
In 1609, Fort Lee and the Palisades were called "the good land" by Henry Hudson. About one hundred and fifty years later, it was the start of George Washington's retreat across New Jersey during the low point of the Revolution. Fort Lee was also home to many early motion picture companies.
The Fort Lee school district has four elementary schools, one middle school and a high school. Juniors and Seniors are able to earn college credit for work in twenty-five advanced courses. Six bus lines offer service to and from New York City. Residents can get to Newark International Airport in a matter of minutes. The borough is five minutes from Manhattan via the George Washington Bridge. Ferries to the city leave all day from the nearby towns of West New York and Hoboken. The New Jersey Turnpike, Palisades Parkway and Garden State Parkway are just minutes away.

CULTURAL LIFE & RECREATION
The mission of the Fort Lee recreation department is to offer a variety of quality services to residents of all ages so that their leisure time may be spent in a productive, meaningful and enjoyable manner in safe environments.
Fort Lee's Museum found a home in the Judge Moore House. The renovated 20th century stone edifice (built by Judge Moore in 1922, out of Palisade Blue Stone) opened in April 1999. The Fort Lee Historical Society occupies the building and uses it as both a facility to archive material and display various photos, objects, documents, and films from our glorious past.
The Fort Lee Film Commission actively raises funds to preserve films made in Fort Lee, and works with filmmakers who support promotion of Fort Lee's role as birthplace of the American film industry. The Commission has worked with the Fort Lee Public Library and its director and film scholar Rita Altamora to digitize the library's collection of over 1000 stills of Fort Lee-related film/studio history. These stills will eventually be made available to the public through web sites and the Library database. The Cliffhanger Film Festivals are an annual series of spring and fall film festivals, celebrating Fort Lee's role as birthplace of the motion picture industry.
The Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenpac) offers world class entertainment just around the corner. The Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) was conceived in the echoing corridors, empty rehearsal rooms and grand performance hall of the former John Harms Center, which closed to the shock and heartbreak of Bergen County's large community of culture lovers, families and students. In April 2003, a group of concerned citizens, headed by Englewood resident Frank Huttle III, formed bergenPAC and developed a business plan to forge a true public/private partnership, engaging all sectors of the community and bringing together corporations, governments and residents, each adding the commitment and support necessary to revitalize this unique arts center.

Getting your home sold is a collaborative effort between you and your real estate agent. It is important for your agent to market your property aggressively, but you must do your part to ensure that buyers see a home that is as appealing as it can be. Ask your agent for any new ideas that will create results.
